How to Use the Pampered Chef can opener

First, you attach the Pampered Chef can opener to the can by placing the can opener over the rim and then turning it clockwise. It attaches by being turned clockwise and detaches by turning it counterclockwise. Once you secure the can opener to the lid, keep turning the knob clockwise in a full rotation.

After you finish the rotation, you will most likely feel a release of pressure upon the last turn. This indicates the cutting process is complete. You will now have a lid with smooth edges rather than sharp edges.

Next, in order to release the can opener from the lid, you turn the handle counterclockwise. You will want to hold onto the can with one hand when you do this. After you release the lid, use the lid claw to remove the lid. You push the lid claw button to grasp the lid with the claw, then lift the lid away from the can. Take the lid to a nearby trash can and press the lid claw button to properly discard the lid.

Are Pampered Chef can openers guaranteed for life?

Pampered Chef can openers are not guaranteed for life. They do, on the other hand, come with a three-year warranty. Even though this particular item is not guaranteed for life, Pampered Chef products are made to be long-lasting.

Pampered Chef products that are guaranteed for life have a capital 'L' printed onto them. You can find out if your product is covered by looking for this L or by reading the product information prior to purchasing it. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the product. It can be confusing because this does not cover normal wear and tear but does cover manufacturing malfunctions.

You must have your proof of purchase for verification purposes in order to replace your Pampered Chef product under the lifetime warranty. The way these products are warrantied is either by way of exchange, a refund, or by being issued a replacement. If you are unsure if the damages of your product are covered, you can call with your order number to ask any questions that you may have.

How do smooth-edge can openers work?

Smooth-edge can openers cut along the side of the can. They are designed to cut below the edge of the lid rather than the typical can opener, which cuts the top of the lid. A typical can opener that cuts on the top of the lid leaves behind sharp edges that will potentially cut your finger or hand upon removal. The reason smooth-edge can openers cut below the edge of the lid is so that they do not leave behind sharp edges hence the name, smooth-edge.

Another useful feature the Pampered Chef smooth-edge can opener has is a lid claw built-in. This is used for the purpose of removing the lid without getting your hands dirty. This feature also makes the Pampered Chef can opener safer as compared to others that do not produce a smooth edge.

Are you supposed to wash can openers?

Rinsing a can opener. Action is stopped in this high speed photograph, How To Clean A Can Opener

Yes, it is a good idea to wash can openers. Many times when you use a can opener to open something such as baked beans, you will have residue left on the blade. When this happens, use a damp towel or sponge with dishwashing liquid to wash the gears and blade of your can opener.

After you wipe down your can opener, rinse it, and allow it to air dry. You can rinse the gears and blade rather than wash them with a sponge or damp towel if the residue left behind is not sticky. Giving it time to air dry will ensure that it dries entirely.

Can you put a can opener in the dishwasher?

Pampered Chef can openers are meant to only be washed by hand. You do not want to put an electric can opener in the dishwasher, just like anything else with an electrical element. However, you can remove the cutting wheel and lid holder. It is suggested to use a toothbrush to clean this so that you can get the small surface area clean.

You can put a regular can opener in the dishwasher, but it may rust the metal, wear down the blade, or wear down the handles. It could also melt the handles depending on what they are made with. If your can opener does not specifically say it is "dishwasher-safe" either on it or on the original packaging, you should not put it in the dishwasher.

If your can opener is rusty or has gunked-up food on it, you can soak it in distilled vinegar for a few minutes to help remove the buildup. Vinegar works well to remove rust. The best option for cleaning your can opener is to wash it by hand and give it time to air dry before putting it away.

How to Increase the Longevity of Your Can Opener

You can make your can opener last longer in a couple of ways. One thing that will lengthen the life of your can opener is to be sure it air dries completely before putting it away. Another action that will increase the longevity of your can opener is to sharpen the blade. You can sharpen the blade of your can opener by using coarse sandpaper.

In Closing

The Pampered Chef can opener is made to be used by both right-handed and left-handed people. The Pampered Chef can opener is a safer alternative than the typical can opener because it produces smooth edges. This is particularly great for parents with young children.
