What Is The Serial Number On A Frigidaire Dishwasher?

The serial number on a Frigidaire dishwasher tells you when your appliance was created and where it came from. Manufacturers use these codes to keep track of inventory and often require them for replacements and warranty coverage.

Although they are often called serial "numbers," yours will likely have 1-2 letters at the beginning. As we said, Frigidaire starts its serial numbers with two letters, which indicate the month and year an appliance went into production.

Furthermore, your Frigidaire dishwasher should also have a model number, which will be nearby to the serial code. These are important for identifying a product's age and parts, so it's good to know how to find them.

Do All Frigidaire Dishwashers Have Serial Numbers?

Yes! Every Frigidaire dishwasher will have a serial number. As we mentioned above, this unique code will be different for every appliance and will tell you everything you need to know about your dishwasher.

Frigidaire will often give their products a label with the serial and model numbers before shipping, so this happens far before you receive your new system. Again, every code is different.

Furthermore, it's also likely that your Frigidaire dishwasher's box will list its serial number. This will usually be towards the bottom, so keep an eye out for a sticker with multiple bar codes.

How Do I Find The Serial Number On A Frigidaire Dishwasher?

In general, finding the serial number/code on a Frigidaire dishwasher will be easy. According to Frigidaire's website, the serial number is often along the interior side of the door in your dishwasher.

If you don't see the code there, another place to look is towards the right side of the dishwasher tub. You can see this when your appliance door is open.

Additionally, if your serial number is hard to see, you can always check the original box your appliance was in, so there are a few ways to do this.

Do I Need To Register My Frigidaire Dishwasher?

Although registering a Frigidaire dishwasher is required, we recommend it. Most importantly, registering your appliance will activate its warranty in most cases, which will help if something goes wrong.

Furthermore, registering your Frigidaire dishwasher is a good way to determine its age/manufacturer date, which can be beneficial.

So if you plan on using your warranty when a part breaks or needs repairing, we think registering your Frigidaire is a good idea. And for those not tech-savvy, the company also allows you to send in a 'product registration card' in the mail, so anyone can do this.

How Can I Tell When My Frigidaire Dishwasher Was Made?

Once you find the serial number on your Frigidaire dishwasher, it's time to understand each digit. To find the exact age of your appliance, take a look at the two letters/digits in the serial code.

The first letter will indicate the year of manufacture, while the second tells you what month Frigidaire made your dishwasher. Some serial codes will also include the week a product was created, so this can be very specific.

Again, you will need to locate the serial number on your appliance, not the model number, to find its age.

Do I Need To Know The Model Code On My Dishwasher?

Like the serial number on an appliance, it's also good to know the exact model code. As we mentioned, you can use your model code to look up replacement parts for your dishwasher.

This will come in handy if a piece/part of your dishwasher fails and you need to buy a new one. It's also good to have your dishwasher's model number for warranty purposes, so if you can, make sure to locate and write down this number.

How Long Do Frigidaire Dishwashers Last?

Although this will vary from person to person, you can typically expect to get between 6-10 years out of a Frigidaire dishwasher. This is a standard life expectancy of a dishwasher, so Frigidaire isn't any higher or lower than most brands.

However, according to a study done by MSN, owners of Electrolux and Frigidaire dishwashers were the least satisfied (Electrolux makes Frigidaire appliances) out of the 20 brands they surveyed, so that isn't great news.

One of the main complaints was the shorter lifetime of these dishwashers and their more frequent need for repairs. Of course, that's not to say you won't have a good experience with the Frigidaire brand, but it does raise a few quality questions.

How Long Should A Dishwasher Last On Average?

On average, a dishwasher should remain operable for at least ten years. As we mentioned, Frigidaire does seem to be on par with this, although some customers only had their appliances work between six and ten years.

According to Mr. Appliance, the average life expectancy of a modern dishwasher is roughly 12 years, so if many Frigidaire's only last six, that's not a great figure.

They also mention that a high-quality dishwasher can last up to 16 years if you take good care of it, so that's good to know. Again, everyone's dishwasher will age differently, but you should see one last for at least ten years before needing more serious repairs.

Is Frigidaire A Good Brand?

Dirty dishes no more

Yes, in general, Frigidaire is a great brand to shop from. According to consumer rankings, Frigidaire appliances score highly for overall quality, lifespan, and price.

This covers more of Frigidaire's general brand rather than a specific model/appliance, so it's still possible for you to run into issues.

As we covered, the company's dishwashers do okay in terms of ratings but don't seem to last more than ten years on average. That might be a dealbreaker for some, but we think Frigidaire gives excellent value for the price.

How Much Does It Cost To Repair A Frigidaire Dishwasher?

Typically, you can expect to spend between $100 and $300 to fix a Frigidaire dishwasher. Considering this brand is relatively affordable, buying replacement parts won't break the bank.

On the other hand, Frigidaire appliances aren't always up to a luxury standard, which could mean more frequent problems as your dishwasher ages.

Furthermore, it is normal to have more problems with a dishwasher after it hits 8-10 years old, so that is expected regardless of brand.

Do Frigidaire Dishwashers Come With A Lifetime Warranty?

Yes! Frigidaire dishwashers will come with a warranty. According to the brand, dishwashers have ten years of warranty coverage, which is essentially a lifetime guarantee.

This coverage applies to the parts of your dishwasher, so if you need a repair or replacement within the first decade of owning your appliance, you're likely covered.

On top of that, Frigidaire also offers paid insurance for their product "Tap," which covers them once the warranty period ends. However, we aren't sure this is necessary, considering your dishwasher won't last more than 10-12 years most of the time.

How Can I Make My Dishwasher Last Longer?

Man repairing a dishwasher with tools

For those wanting to ensure their dishwasher lasts for years to come, there are things you can do to help make this happen. For example, scraping or rinsing off large food particles from your dishes before putting them in the machine can help avoid clogs and build-up.

Another way to achieve a longer dishwasher lifespan is by regularly cleaning your appliance: and checking its drain, filter, and any seals.

You might also want to try using a rustproofing product on the racks of your dishwasher to prevent corrosion as it ages. Doing this isn't difficult and can save you the hassle of rust on your dishes and machine.

To Wrap It All Up

Whether you have a brand new Frigidaire dishwasher or an older unit, knowing how to find the serial number is essential. From what we found, the best way to tell how old your dishwasher is would be to refer back to its serial code.

You can typically find this inside your dishwasher's door or along the side of its bin. Furthermore, you want to also locate your Frigidaire's model number. This can help with replacements, repairs, and warranty coverage.

Regardless, make sure to take proper care of your dishwasher, and don't forget to register it on Frigidaire's website.

  1. I apparently have an older Frigidaire Dishwasher with a Serial Number of TH00846780. Obviously the first two letters are no way month and year, so perhaps the first number ‘0’ is indicating the year 2000? Hard to say. Contacted Frigidaire but they were of no help either. Thank you ahead for any help you may be able to provide.

    • Interesting. Were you able to get any additional info? Mine has a SN of TH01190267. I’m going out on a limb here to state that since this article says SIX digits, (yet ours have EIGHT) that possibly the numbering system was upgraded after 1999? IF that’s the case, your dishwasher was manufactured August 2000. Mine, January 2001. Just a thought.

  2. Trying to find out what year and month our Frigidaire Ultra Quiet Dishwasher was made.
    Model #FDB641RJS0
    Serial #TH11178034
    Greatly appreciate your assistance!

  3. Strange…ours begins TH11 yet has been in this house since we bought it in 2001, so your premise of 00, 01,11 being the year does not fit (at least not ours). Appreciate your comments that Frigidaire did not help you out.
So who knows if Frigidaire does not?
Interestingly, ours has performed effectively for at least 21 years and just recently needs some superficial touch ups like racks and door springs…but just merely based on principle alone, if Frigidaire can’t (or won’t) tell you key critical info, we won’t buy from them when we re-do our kitchen. 21 years is a long time for a dishwasher to function as well as it has and was hoping they were a well run company worthy of future purchases (looks not to be the case).
    Thanks for the info.

  4. For Brian and Peek,
Here is an explanation as best as I can tell.
No idea what the TH stands for but online info suggests the first number not the first two tell the year it was made (wonder what they do before 2000 and after 2009?).
The second and third number is supposed to be the week of the year it was made, while other sites differ and say the next three numbers are the Julian day of the year. Seems confusion is built into the system to make you drop your search.
Either way, it seems to be up in the air as to what the specific answer is especially for machines made before 2000 (how do they identify 1999 with a single digit? Makes no sense. And how do they identify 2010 with a single digit, also makes no sense).
