How do you deep clean a blender?
If you have had your blender for a while and have noticed that the once crystal clear pitcher has now become cloudy or stained, we have compiled three basic steps for you to follow so that you can give your blender a deep clean.
Fortunately, deep cleaning your blender doesn't require special cleaning supplies. In fact, all you need is vinegar, baking soda, and a scrub brush.
1. Start with a clean blender
You do not want to attempt a deep clean on a blender that has just pureed carrots into baby food. Rinse out your jar and remove the blade assembly if you have the Ninja professional blender. If you are using a larger blender, pour four cups of cool water and four cups of vinegar into the pitcher.
If you have the NutriBullet 24-ounce cup, you will want to reduce your amount of water and vinegar to one-and-a-half cups each.
2. Soak it
Let your pitcher soak with this mixture for at least four hours. Additional components like lids, seals, tamper, and blades can also soak in vinegar and water to help disinfect. Once you have done that, you can run the blender for 30 seconds and then rinse it out. You can repeat this process weekly if you have hard water; otherwise, you may only want to do it once a month.
3. Extra deep clean
If you have done the first two steps and feel that your blender is not as clean as you would like, you can add an extra step. Pour a small amount of baking soda into your container and use a scrub brush to get it really clean. Use care when scrubbing the blades to protect yourself from getting cut. Rinse your blender again and let it air dry.
A brief word of caution
If parts of your blender do not come apart easily, such as blades, seals, or gaskets, it is not recommended that you disassemble them to deep clean your blender. Not only could this damage your blender, but it could also cause any warranty you have to become nullified.
Furthermore, we recommend that you fully read the instruction manual that comes with your specific blender model to clean it properly.
We have learned that most of the top brand blenders on the market are dishwasher safe.
